Choir and music
The acoustic at St. Thomas' is excellent, and the church has a particularly strong choral tradition. The St. Thomas' choir has sung in services here for over 175 years. The original organ is also still in operation, with a dedicated organist. Music is still at the very heart of worship at St. Thomas', and the church maintains a high standard of choral music at worship services.
In addition to the choir and organ, other instruments are occasionally used in worship. The church uses a wide variety of music, drawing upon both ancient and contemporary sources. Much of the Sunday Eucharistic service at St. Thomas' is sung, and the church uses its own musical setting, written by a former choirmaster.
Singing has been proven to improve quality of life and is an activity open to everyone.
.
The choir very much welcomes visitors if you would like to come and sing with us. For more information about the choir and music at St. Thomas', please contact us.
